Unfortunately, at times, we lose our smartphone/tablet or it might get stolen as well without our knowledge. However, it likely contains a good amount of data some of which is probably sensitive personal/official data.


Today, we are going to do the above-mentioned process using Find My Device is on by default for Android devices. In order for the 'Find my device to work', your device must be turned on, signed in to a Google Account, connected to the Internet either by data or wifi, Location and Find my device turned on. Once you see your device in 'Find my phone', it will show your device's last location, and the device gets a notification. 

Step 1: Now go to android.com/find 
Step 2: Sign in to your Google Account. 
Step 3: It will show you the list of devices you used on the top. In case, if you have more than one device, click the lost device at the top of the screen. 
Step 4: On the map, see whereabouts of the device. 
Step 5: If you can't see the device right now, it shows its last known location, if available. 
Step 6: Now you will be left with options in the app -Sound, Lock and Erase. 

If you tap on Play sound, it will ring your device at full volume for 5 minutes, even if it's set to silent or vibrate. 

If you tap on lock, it locks your device with your PIN, pattern, or password. Apart from that, you can also add a recovery message or phone number to the lock screen. 

If you tap on erase, your data will be deleted permanently from the phone.
